Remember that 'Less Is More' When Whitening Your Teeth

A great way to improve the appearance of your smile with relatively little effort, is by whitening your teeth. However, it's important to remember that when it comes to teeth whitening 'less is more'!

When someone over-whitens their teeth, the result is often quite jarring. Brilliant, blindingly white teeth are not attractive or natural looking. In fact when teeth are too white they can look quite weird.

Unless you're one of the lucky few who have a career in television, or modelling, it’s always better to err on the side of caution when it comes to whitening. Try to keep in mind that over-doing teeth whitening could mistakenly make your smile less attractive.

Over-whitening your teeth can also lead to unexpected dental health problems. The whitening gel can actually soften tooth enamel! This could make your teeth feel extra sensitive, and in extreme cases, it may even cause your teeth to become a strange blue-grey colour.

However, it takes a lot to over-whiten your teeth to the extent that you wind up with oral health problems, and generally speaking teeth whitening is very safe. Just be sure to exercise caution.

If you’re unsure about how frequently you should whiten your teeth, or when they’re white enough, visit your Surrey dentist at Cloverdale Crossing for a consultation!
